![]() Behemothĭrummer (played by Cara Gee) and Ashford (played by David Strathairn) are dealing with belter pirates. He also calls her ”Peaches” a nickname he has for her in the books. We learn Amos gave her a chance to ”space” herself so she didn’t have to go, but she chose not to. It was hard to watch her going through so much pain.Īlex (played by Cas Anvar) is still as in-tuned with the Roci as ever and had a quick chat with Bobbie while Amos (played by Wes Catham) talks to Clarissa Mao (played by Nadine Nicole) who is serving time for her crimes. Naomi (played by Dominique Tipper) is preparing herself for being on a planet with gravity by taking enhancement drugs to enhance her body mass. And since Holden is the only expert when it comes to the protomolecule, she saw him as their best bet. There’s a threat of the protomolecule as well as a land dispute. She isn’t going to be walked on under any circumstance.Īfter the meeting, Avasarala tells Holden she wants him to go to one of the new planets, Llus also known as New Terra by the inners and Martians. It’s nice to see that Avasarala is still as cutthroat as ever. Secretary-General of the U.N Avasarala (played by Shohreh Aghdashloo) is trying to keep the peace with all the people who want to pass through the ring. Miller is eager to get through the ring for the next piece of the puzzle and pushes Holden to get him there. We then see him talk to Miller (played by Thomas Jane). We see him talking to one of his many mothers, Elise Holden (played by Frances Fisher).Įlise wishes Naomi could come to Earth so they could meet face to face. Holden (played by Steven Strait ) is on Earth visiting his family. Let’s see what the other planets and people are up to. Though we didn’t see much, it was enough to wet my taste buds and I hope to see a lot more. It’s also nice to finally see Mars being represented on the show. Now that Earth, Mars and The Belt are vying for a place in the new world all hell is breaking loose once again.īobbie (played by Frankie Adams) put it into the grand words when she told her new sailor friend on Mars to keep his uniform tidy because the war would be coming again. With no further wait, here is my review of Season 4 Episode 1: New Terra When we last left off, everyone was heading through the ring to unexplored and uninhabited worlds. ![]() Because of this, the Arjun recast became a hot topic of debate among fans of The Expanse, not because one actor was replaced with another, but because Arjun evolved into a more politically-minded individual that encroached upon Chrisjen's world rather than being her escape.Amazon Prime gave us an early Christmas gift this year, season 4 of The Expanse and an early season 5 renewal. Whether intentional or otherwise, season 4 Arjun comes across as selfish at times, doggedly trying to convince his wife she needs to change. In season 4, however, Arjun directly involves himself in Chrisjen's campaign strategy, and tries to alter his wife's PR approach to ensure her victory, even though Chrisjen herself is clearly uncomfortable being so disingenuous. Arjun felt like her escape from the (often literally) cutthroat world of Sol system politics. When George played the character, Arjun had little interest in Chrisjen's political machinations outside of supporting his wife and being her emotional rock. ![]() Where Brian George's Arjun was portrayed as a soft and kindly grandparent figure, Michael Benyaer brought Arjun's stoicism to the fore, and even gave the character somewhat of a harder edge compared to the Arjun of season 1. Brian George is a prolific TV and voice actor and has featured in a host of projects since last being seen in The Expanse, but there's a certain bitter irony that George would play Arjun Avasarala for two seasons, only to be unable to return for his character's biggest storyline yet.ĭespite the casting change being completely outside of The Expanse's control, this was certainly no like-for-like substitution. By the time the season 4 renewal was official, George was already unavailable. The Expanse writer Hallie Lambert confirmed on Twitter that the series originally intended to bring Brian George back for season 4, but the actor had been cast in another series between The Expanse's cancellation at Syfy and their rescue at the hands of Amazon Prime. It's not unusual for TV shows and films to change actors when promoting a character from bit-part to a more prominent position, but the timing was entirely coincidental in Arjun's case. Some viewers might assume that Arjun's recasting had something to do with the character's increased presence in season 4, especially after being entirely absent in season 3. ![]() Related: The Expanse: What The "Nemesis Games" Book Title Reveals About Season 5 ![]()
